About Haiku Girl Summer

Haiku Girl Summer was launched on a whim in 2023. Founding editor Allyson Whipple was bored at her job and in a moment of ADHD-fueled inspiration, she threw together a logo, started a Substack account, and launched the first issue with her own poems. Within a few days, submissions from other poets started trickling in, and since then the journal has grown primarily through word-of-mouth. 2024 welcomed the first group of guest editors, and in 2026, we will launch our first haiga week. We publish daily from June 1st - September 1st.

Submissions

We welcome haiku, senryu, and haiga from women-identifying and nonbinary poets. We are a trans-inclusive publication. Please visit our submission page for full details.

Subscriptions

It's free to subscribe to Haiku Girl Summer. When you subscribe, new issues and key updates (like award announcements) come straight to your inbox.
